Final Score: Woodcutters 2, October Snow 0
November 1st, 2012 in High Camp Happenings
You didn’t think 18″ of snow would stop our second weekend of woodcutting, did you? Four chained-up vehicles, seven tuned chain saws, four hydraulic splitters, two snowmobiles with cargo sleds, and twenty spirited volunteers were just exactly what it took to overcome Mother Nature’s untimely late October snowstorm.
After an extensive amount of “digging out” upon arrival on the last Saturday morning in October, things proceeded in a more normal fashion as the various crews worked to complete the task begun the previous weekend by another great group of workers. Over the two weekends, more than thirty-five truckloads of firewood were split and then stacked under the cabins and in each of the woodsheds. Best part of the weekend? The mountain camaraderie was infectious and people on both weekends definitely enjoyed themselves. Interested in next year? Watch for details next May.
