Summer Work Party a Success!
July 31st, 2013 in Around the Woodstove
Another productive and fun Summer Work Party is in the books! Again, we accomplished amazing things. There were three major projects on the list this year. The first was creating a gravity sump with a large French drain system to treat the sink water from the lodge. This involved creating a big hole (surprisingly finding another one) and filling it with a clean-out barrel surrounded by rocks to promote seepage into the soil. Up to 6 dirty and sweaty folk took part in this epic excavation event for two full days. The second project involved shoring up the foundation on the lodge and putting in a new cement pillar. The third project was a complete makeover of Foxfire. She got new stain all around (including the decks and railings), touch-up on the white trim paint, and new green floor paint. Come see her soon, she is shining in all her glory. These folks sure earned their 3 day mid-week vouchers. Many thanks to Max and Don G, David, Debbie and Brett, Earl, Sandra and Jeff, Ralph, Karl, Matt and George, Gus and Rich, Mike and Dena from Chris, Royce and me (Lisa). There are still a few spots for the Fall Woodcutting Work Party on the final weekend in October. Contact Chris at email@example.com for more information.
