Update on the article below:  High Camp has received 1 1/2 feet of snow over that last 5 days!  Conditions have dramatically improved.  The February prediction for weather is calling for more snow.

The phone is ringing off the hook these days!  What is the snow depth at High Camp? What is the skiing like? Should I just bring my hiking boots? So I thought I should set things straight. The snow depth at High Camp is 3 feet with more depth, of course, as you go higher in elevation. The snowshoeing is fabulous. Tele skiing is good especially if you have kicker skins for icy spots. Turns can be found in slopes with the right aspect…not tons of turns, but turns never the less.  The trails are good for cross country skis with a metal edge and fishscales.  We have had skiers and snowshoers this past weekend in the High Meadows and on the ridge between Loch Eileen and Lake Ethel. The sun and the views were gorgeous! That is the report!  It is not the best year ever that is for sure, but it is not as bad as you might think.
